BayWa Fruit Traverse: beam

BayWa Fruit Traverse – the innovation in fruit growing.

BayWa Fruit Traverse system

The first sustainable crop protection system

The novel beam construction serves as support scaffolding, both for the protective netting and for the respective crops, making it a truly sustainable solution in every respect. The focus of this system is on logistics and assembly, useful life, as well as disposal of the material after dismantling. The effort required for relocating systems to different sites is manageable.

Ultra light

Its special construction lends our traverse column optimal stability with a weight saving of almost 90% compared to concrete, which greatly simplifies handling from production and installation to final dismantling.

Extremely stable

To make the most of the flexible use and high tensile strength of steel, we have used a tried and tested design principle. Traverses are lattice girders that consist of statically determined triangles and distribute compressive and tensile forces over large distances with very little use of material.

100% sustainable

The connecting elements ensure optimal anchoring for the system, are designed to be easy to install, and compatible with our tried and tested protection systems. The design of the Fruit Traverse follows our modular system, and its structure makes it suitable for many other applications. After a useful life of at least 30 years, you will even receive recompensation for the material upon disposal.

Fruit Traverse benefits:

  • Useful life > 30 years
  • Light weight
  • Easy logistics
  • Simple handling
  • Simplified assembly
  • Compatible with proven systems
  • Various attachment options
  • Easy to dismantle
  • Reusable
  • Recyclable

Fruit Traverse assembly: column for column

Logistics are not only simplified by the low weight of the Fruit Traverse, but also by the fact that it is stackable. During set-up, the individual columns can easily be moved without using machinery. In addition, the pre-assembled connecting elements reduce the need for service platforms.

Assembly elements

Head section + protective cap + wire tightener + sink prevention support

  • Fruit Traverse: Head section with anchor rope

    Head section with anchor rope

The connection of the Fruit Traverse to the anchoring is a central element. The ingeniously designed head section is easy to assemble, reliably secures the anchoring in the centre and optimally distributes any forces that occur across the structure.

  • Fruit Traverse: Protective cap

    Protective cap

To protect the netting, construction-related edges are covered. The net ring known from our Firstfix protects the net from damage by the screw connection.

  • Fruit Traverse: Wire tightener

    Wire tightener

The cultivation wires can be hooked in at any position on the structure via the adapted tightening bracket at 20 cm intervals and tightened with the appropriate countertension.

  • Fruit Traverse: Sink prevention support

    Sink prevention support

The sink prevention support adapted to the structure prevents the inclined columns from sinking in when subjected to pressure and can be installed without tools.
